Earlier this year, one of 2015’s best records was released by Dawes, fittingly titled All Your Favorite Bands. Dawes hails as only one of the many artists I’ve gotten into this year: Noah Gundersen, Will Hoge, Jazmine Sullivan, Jason Isbell, Ashley Monroe, Nate Reuss, An Autumn for Crippled Children, and many more.
As much as I love discovering new artists, however, there’s something special about the old favorites. This short blog post serves no purpose other than expressing my excitement over albums set to release during these final 5 months of the year. Crazily enough, it seems like just about every single one of my favorite artists is releasing a new record in the coming months:
The Wonder Years, Deafheaven, Andrew Peterson, Sara Groves, The Dear Hunter, Defeater, Falling Up, Caspian, Gungor, The Money Pit (former Gatsbys American Dream), Beach House, maybe Chris Brown and/or Usher, and (news to me) potentially even Steven Curtis Chapman.
Back in January, it was already clear that 2015 was going to be the most jam-packed year in musical history, with more major artists set to release albums than ever before. Yet with every week it seems like another album is announced or another artist heads into the studio (I’m looking at you, Saosin).
Let’s get pumped.
Oh yeah–and anyone expecting brand new Brand New can put those desires to rest. Oh, well.
